There will still be 21 meetings in all, but the balance between jumping and flat racing has shifted with jumps enthusiasts now having 11 fixtures during the year.

Once the course’s biggest day of the year, attendances on Easter Monday have steadily declined, with poor weather a major factor.

General manager Huw Williams is optimistic the course will benefit from the changed list, which he sees as a better fit for the course’s business model.

“It’s a better balance for the corporate market that we aim to appeal to,” said Williams.

“We have been thinking about it for some, but the opportunities for change haven’t presented themselves until now.”
