Warwick’s seven-race card will get the party started

There’s a seven-race card at Warwick on New Year’s Eve when the highlight will be a qualifier for the Jockey Club Grassroots Series, writes David Hucker.

Warwick is one of ten Jockey Club racecourse taking part in the series and will stage the racinguk.com Handicap Chase over three miles and half a furlong for horses rated 0-130 as the fourth on the card at 2.20pm.

To be eligible for the £50,000 final, horses must have run in at least one qualifier, so there should be a good turnout next week.

As well as the racing, there’s plenty on offer for younger visitors, with the Children’s Party Bus making a stop to keep them entertained throughout the afternoon.

“We’re looking forward to getting people’s celebrations started with a fabulous afternoon out at our New Year’s Eve meeting,” said general manager Huw Williams.

“We’ve got fun for all the family lined up and it will be a great way for us to mark the end of 2013 and get everyone in the spirit for a successful start to 2014.”

The first race is due off at 12.50pm and gates will open two hours before.
