Westminster invitation for Jones
Bridge may well be synonymous with blue rinses and tea drinking but 13-year-old Princethorpe College pupil Meg Jones is helping to buck the trend. The Year 9 pupil has been selected to represent Warwickshire at the Palace of Westminster in a tournament against players from the House of Lords. “It’s going to be very exciting,” said Jones “We’ll start playing at 11 and go on until early evening.”
As yet she does not know who her titled opponents will be but in the meantime she is putting in the practice at Coventry and North Warwickshire Bridge Club each week.
“A game can last for up to three hours so it demands real endurance. I hope they’re up for the challenge!”
