£90,000 raised in record-breaking Myton Hospice Cycle Challenge

The annual fundraising event took place on Sunday 2 August, bringing together more than 450 cyclists who took on 50km, 100km and 100-mile routes through the beautiful Warwickshire and Cotswolds countryside.

The record-breaking total could fund the running costs of Myton Hospice’s Warwick inpatient unit for almost three weeks, helping to ensure local patients and their loved ones can continue to access specialist hospice care when they need it most.

Karen Pattison, Executive Director at The Meriden Hospital, said:

“We are incredibly proud to have sponsored this year’s Myton Hospice Cycle Challenge and to have played a part in such a fantastic fundraising achievement. Raising over £90,000 is a phenomenal result and a real testament to the generosity and commitment of everyone involved.

Myton Hospice provides vital care and support to people and families across our local community, and it is a charity we are very proud to support. A huge well done to everyone who took part, raised money, volunteered or helped make the event such a success.”

The event also showcased the strength of the local community, with businesses, volunteers and organisations coming together to support the cyclists and help make the day possible.

Chris Willmott, Partnerships Manager at Myton Hospice, said:

“What an incredible year for our Cycle Challenge. We are absolutely delighted to have raised more than £90,000, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make this possible.

From the cyclists and their sponsors to our volunteers, suppliers and event partners, there was a huge amount of support behind the event. We would also like to thank The Meriden Hospital for sponsoring the Cycle Challenge and helping us make it such a success.”

Participants were able to choose from three routes, with cyclists returning after their rides to enjoy refreshments, food and live entertainment. Volunteers and local businesses also provided support throughout the day, from bike maintenance and sports massages to refreshments at rest stops.

The funds raised will help The Myton Hospices continue providing specialist care and support for people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families and loved ones across Coventry and Warwickshire.

The Meriden Hospital is proud to support Myton Hospice and other local organisations that make a lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve.
