Colourful display at Leamington art exhibition

POSTER-style pictures and landscape paintings of Warwickshire and Cornwall feature in Leamington art space Gallery 150’s current exhibition.

Caroline Gatehouse has studied both design and fine art and both aspects of this background can be seen in this collection.

Inspired by the likes of Seurat and Monet, she also admires the style of Toulouse-Lautrec and the title of her exhibition, Dichotomy, reflects the two very different styles.

A member of the Leamington Studio Artists, Caroline, who studied at Cheltenham and Gloucester Art College, has worked for the English National Opera House. She said: “The urban and the rural and watching how light playing on the different colours and moods of the seasons creates an ever-changing impression on my work.” As well as images of the local area, Dichotomy includes landscapes of St Ives, where she has spent a lot of time and met high profile artists including Tony Hudson, Max Barrett, and John Miller.

The works are on display at the gallery, which is in the Regent Court shopping arcade in Livery Street, until Sunday. Opening times are Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 6pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm. Entry is free.
