Recent works by artist David Troughton, along with selected paintings by his daughter Twinkle Troughton, will go on display at the gallery in Regent Court.

Using a a combination of an image transfer technique and acrylic paint on canvas, David works on three themes - American landscape, holidays, and space exploration, with a linking theme of the ‘pioneering spirit of humankind’.

He said: “As an art student in the late 60’s early 70’s, I was intrigued by the use of found images by the Pop artists. I was particularly influenced by Robert Rauschenberg, Jim Dine and Jasper Johns.

“Upon reviewing the work I have during recent years, I find that I have been using found images, as opposed to photographs I have taken myself, more and more often. The selection is intuitive – I probably choose one from hundreds I look at for each piece – but I do feel that they are all evocative and sometimes nostalgic.”

David is also showcasing a selection of works from his early and expansive art career in the exhibition - entitled Back to the Future - which runs until Sunday September 29.

Entry to the gallery, which is run by volunteers, is free. Opening times are Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 6pm, and Sundays from 11am to 4pm. To find out more, visit www.gallery150.co.uk
