Quartet strikes up in town for its 20th year

The Zemlinsky String Quartet will play at the town’s Pump Room as part of the ongoing Leamington Music series on November 28.

The concert will start with the first of the sixteen quartets by Beethoven, going on to include the third quartet by Alexander Zemlinsky - the Jewish composer whose name the group adopted.

The evening will end with one of the last works written by the most famous of Czech composers, Antonin Dvorak, his Quartet in G Opus 106.

As well as being their first time in the town, the concert will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the young quartet.

Members of the ensemble were all students in Prague in 1994 and since working together, have been highly acclaimed both in the Czech Republic and abroad.

In 2006 The quartet won the Audience Prize in the London International String Quartet Competition and first prize at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition in 2010.

Tickets for the November Pump Room show are priced from £12.50 for adults.
