Fitness is key to charity challenge

THREE fundraisers are training hard to be ready for a challenge which will test their pedal power and endurance.

Personal trainer Alex Myers, 27, of Studiocv34 in Warwick and his clients Dennis Davies, 52, and Jason Walkley, 42, will cycle from the fitness studio in Budbrooke Road to Mount Snowdon before climbing the mountain and then cycling back.

The challenge is expected to take three days from Friday September 7 and is being carried out to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Mr Myers was inspired to organise the challenge by working with Janice Pinnegar, whose daughter Gemma from Coventry died of leukaemia aged 21.

He said: “I saw how it affected Janice and her husband Tony and they are very dedicated to raising awareness for the charity.

“They are always grateful for any help they can get and we’ll know where we’re doing this that there’s a good reason for ti and that will keep us going.”

The trio are aiming to raise £5,000 for the cause.

They have started an intense three and a half week training programme to prepare for the 300-mile cycle.

Supporters, including Mr and Mrs Pinnegar will join them for the climb.

Mr Myers said: “We’re all fir guys but this is a different type of fitness to what i;m used to.

“I’d never cycled in my life before but I’m genuinely looking forward to it.

“The aim is simple, we just want to raise as much money as possible.”
