Former Warwickshire police officer guilty of indecent child images offence

A former Warwickshire police officer has been sentenced to a three-year community supervision order for three counts of making indecent images of a child and five counts of outraging public decency.

Robert William Tedds, of Grange Road, Leamington, has also been ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of five years and to pay £425 costs to the court.

Tedds, who was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court today (Friday), had pleaded guilty to the charges at an earlier hearing in July, when he also requested a further ten counts of outraging public decency be taken into consideration.

Detective Inspector John Cashion said: “This was a thorough and independent police investigation into serious offences.

“Tedds previously held a position of trust in the community and we hope this case sends a clear message that no one is above the law.”

The investigation was carried out by West Mercia Police due to Tedds’ background as a former Warwickshire officer.
