Whether it’s young or older, small or large, a dog that likes a long afternoon snooze or one that likes to be on the go, there are dogs to suit all different lifestyles and families at Dogs Trust Kenilworth.
Emma-Jane Thomas, manager at the Honiley based rehoming centre, said: “Dogs find themselves coming to us for a whole range of reasons, from illness in the family, a change in housing, perhaps having to move to rented accommodation which won’t allow dogs, to a change in working hours.
“But what we know all of our dogs have in common is the desire to be at the heart of a loving family that is the ideal match for them. For some that might be a lively household with lots of comings and goings, for others it might be with owners who like to head out for long countryside walks, and for others it might mean someone who likes to stay home a lot and enjoy peaceful, relaxing afternoons together.
“However you like to spend your time, if you know the time is right to welcome a dog into your life, we really hope that you take a look at our beautiful dogs so they have the chance of enjoying the life they deserve once more.”

Can the new year find hew homes in Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth or these rescue dogs? Photo: Dog Trust Kenilworth

1. Davie (Crossbreed, age 4)
Davie is an energetic, clever boy who likes his brain to be kept busy with ‘find it’ games, kongs and anything his human pals can come up with to keep him occupied! Davie is therefore on the lookout for an active, adult-only home so his owners can spend time with him enjoying his company and also helping him understand that sometimes it’s nice just to relax and have some down time, as he can get over-excited. Davie would like to be the only pet in the home as four-legged friends may not like his exuberant approach to life, but he can meet up with dogs on lead walks when he’s out and about. The team at Dogs Trust Kenilworth are impressed by how quickly Davie learns new things and are confident he’ll make a perfect pet in the right home. He would benefit from meeting his owners a few times at the centre. Photo: Dogs Trust Kenilworth

2. Beau (Husky, age 5)
Beau is a typical Husky! He loves running around to burn off some of his energy and is never happier than when he’s out and about on a long line running to his heart’s content. Beau loves to be around his human friends and once he gets to know you he is an affectionate boy, even liking to be a lap dog despite his size! However, he likes to get to know people in his own time so his owners will need to be patient and let him show his true personality as he grows in confidence. However, once he knows you, this cheeky chap will be your friend for life! He would like to meet his owners a few times at the centre and would like a secure garden to play and relax in. He can live with teenagers aged 16 and over who will respect Beau’s space if he needs some time to chill out. Photo: Dogs Trust Kenilworth

3. Jacko (Lurcher, age 7)
Lovely Lurcher, Jacko, found himself without a home after a change in his owner’s circumstances meant they could no longer keep him. The team say he is a friendly, adorable boy who is always a joy to be around so they have their fingers crossed he will find a forever home very soon. He is house-trained and is happy to be left home alone for a few hours after a quiet walk and something tasty to eat. He can be restless in the car and sometimes reacts to dogs so he has been muzzle trained and is perfectly happy wearing his muzzle. He can live with children aged eight and over and he would love a secure garden to play in, with fencing of at least six-foot as this long legged Lurcher has quite a spring in his step. He would like to be the only pet in the home so he can lap up all the love. Photo: Dogs Trust Kenilworth

4. Ares (Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross, age 6)
Ares arrived at Dogs Trust Kenilworth a few weeks before Christmas following a change in his family’s circumstances. Ares had lived with his family since being a puppy and the team say despite having to leave behind everything he has ever known, he has adjusted well and will make a great addition to a new family. Ares has lived with cats previously, loves to play with his toys and is bi-lingual, understanding both English and Polish. He also loves his food – so a tasty treat is a quick way to build a bond with this lovely boy. He would like to be the only dog in the home and would benefit from further socialisation with other dogs once he’s settled, so he’d prefer to go on walks where he won’t meet too many canine companions at first. He could also live with children aged 14 and upwards who are confident around larger dogs. Photo: Dogs Trust Kenilworth
