Whether it’s young or older, small or large, a dog that likes a long afternoon snooze or one that likes to be on the go, there are dogs to suit all different lifestyles and families at Dogs Trust Kenilworth.
Emma-Jane Thomas, manager at the Honiley based rehoming centre, said: “Dogs find themselves coming to us for a whole range of reasons, from illness in the family, a change in housing, perhaps having to move to rented accommodation which won’t allow dogs, to a change in working hours.
“But what we know all of our dogs have in common is the desire to be at the heart of a loving family that is the ideal match for them. For some that might be a lively household with lots of comings and goings, for others it might be with owners who like to head out for long countryside walks, and for others it might mean someone who likes to stay home a lot and enjoy peaceful, relaxing afternoons together.
“However you like to spend your time, if you know the time is right to welcome a dog into your life, we really hope that you take a look at our beautiful dogs so they have the chance of enjoying the life they deserve once more.”

5. Oscar (English Springer Spaniel, age 6)
Oscar found himself at Dogs Trust Kenilworth after a change in his owners’ living arrangements meant he could sadly no longer stay with them. He loves to be on the go as he has been a working dog in the past and still likes to have a job to do! However, he is a sensitive soul so would prefer a quiet home and would like to be the only dog in the home. He loves to be with people and would prefer his owners to be around most of the time, especially whilst he settles in with his new family who will never be short of entertainment or things to do as Oscar loves playing with his toys and is always ready to head out for a walk. He would be best suited to an adult only home with no visiting children and his owners will need to make several visits to the centre so that Oscar can build a bond with them, giving him the best chance of settling into his new home.

6. Kooper (German Shepherd, age 3)
Young Kooper – and his ears – is a joy to behold! He has many loves in life including food, toys, balls of any shape and size as he is very good at fetch, having a fuss made of him, running and having fun with his canine companions and playing in water! He approaches every day with enthusiasm so although he could potentially live with another dog in his new home, they would need to be active, playful – and tolerant of his boisterous behaviour! Kooper is strong on lead but has progressed well with his training since arriving at the rehoming centre so his owners would need to continue to help him reach his full potential so he, and they, can get the most out of living every day to the full. Despite Kooper’s fantastic personality, he does like to take a little bit of time to make new human friends so he would like to meet his owners at the rehoming centre a few times before starting his new life with them.

7. Emmit (German Shepherd, age 10)
Older Age Pooch (OAP) Emmit is a lovely, sweet boy looking for a stress-free retirement home where he can relax and rest his paws. He still enjoys playing with his toys and will happily keep himself entertained and his carers say he loves his food - nothing puts him off enjoying his meals or a treat! Emmit could potentially live with another calm dog in his new forever home, who he’d need to meet at the centre to make sure they got along well before heading home. Emmit doesn’t like to be over-handled, so he’d prefer a home with no young children and preferably only people aged 18 and over. He would benefit from a nice secure garden with six-foot fencing where he can spend time relaxing when the nicer weather arrives.
