Cost of living grants available to help groups support households in Warwick district

Warwick District Council has relaunched its Cost-of-Living Fund to help community groups deliver vital support to households who are facing cost of living pressures.

Applications have opened today (Wednesday September 2) for not-for-profit organisations, including school Parent Teacher Associations, to apply for grants of up to £3,000 for local projects which can provide practical help such as food and household essentials, access to services, financial guidance, health and wellbeing support or school holiday activities.

Last year twenty local organisations made successful applications for funding through the scheme.

These included Chase Meadow Community Centre – which provided Christmas food hampers and gifts for children who might otherwise go without – Bubbenhall Village Hall, which continued its Cosy Café warm hub offering advice and support to the local community – and the SYDNI Community Centre which offers free lunch and social support to local people facing cost of living challenges.

Jo Whitten from Chase Meadow Community Centre said: "The grant we received enabled us to provide vital support to families facing financial hardship during the winter months.

"At a time when many households were struggling with increased costs, this helped ease some of the pressure and ensured local children could experience the joy of Christmas.

"The funding made a real difference to our community, and we would encourage other organisations to apply, as these grants can have a significant impact on the lives of local residents."

Councillor Jim Sinnott, Warwick District Council’s portfolio holder for safer, active and healthier communities, added: “We are very pleased to have been able to reintroduce this important scheme.

“These grants can help organisations who are at the heart of our communities to reach out and target support to those who really need it.

“From the feedback we have received this funding boost can make a real difference.”

Applications for the Cost-of-Living Fund can be made on the Warwick District Council website www.warwickdc.gov.uk/costoflivingfund.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday September 30.
