Everyone in Leamington is being encouraged to take part and join in with a Christmas carol concert like no other this year.

Leamington Sings! a virtual concert will be streamed live on the internet from North Hall in Spencer Yard, Leamington.

The hope is that everyone will be able to enjoy slice of festive fun, from the comfort of their own homes.

The free concert will include a range of Christmas music and readings. Concert organisers are asking people to join a virtual choir so that everyone has the opportunity to take part. The choir will premiere a production of ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.’

Singer and conductor Derry Pope has arranged a special version of the song and will lead and conduct the choir during four online rehearsals starting on Monday November 2.

Derry said: "There’s no pressure to be a virtuoso. As long as you enjoy singing and you’d like to be part of something fun, let’s raise our voices and not the ‘r’ number!"

Choir members will then record their voice, send it in and then all the voices will be edited together to create an uplifting and rousing centrepiece to the event.

Friends and organisers David Clargo and Maddy Kerr came up with the idea over a recent cuppa.

Maddy, who is executive director at Heartbreak Productions, said: "We wanted to provide an opportunity for people to connect and feel part of a festive occasion; for some, a Carol Concert is their start to Christmas, so a virtual gathering seemed to be the best way of ensuring everyone could celebrate safely and sing their hearts out at home!"
