Kenilworth community gets in the Halloween spirit early with parade of pumpkin heads
The community in Kenilworth got in the Halloween spirit early with a pumpkin parade.
On Sunday October 25, members of the community took part in the event, which had been organised by hairdresser Andrew Phimister-Double.
The free ticketed event saw people wearing Andrew’s handmade papier-mâché pumpkin heads for a walk in Abbey Fields and photos before heading to coffee shop Wedge.
The idea came about after Andrew and a client put real pumpkins on their heads last year and walked through Abbey Fields taking photos and then going for a coffee afterwards.

Andrew opened the event up to the community this year as a way to say thank you for the support he received for his fundraising.
He said: “We had sold out of tickets, and on the day we had two who turned up but couldn't do the walk due to personal reasons but they still wanted to come and show their support.
“We had lots of spectators along the walk, which was incredible and there were plenty of people cheering and taking photos.
“The event itself was fantastic.
“I never expected it to get as large as it did and the response has been phenomenal. I've already had people message about next year and to let them know the moment it goes live.”
He added: “This event was such a fun and great way to give back to the community and to bring everyone together.
“Without the support of my husband Tom, family, friends and clients none of this would of happened.
“Over the last year I've done a lot of fundraising and managed to get as much attention towards the charity Hair Reborn so this was the perfect way to say thank you and to end an incredible year of fundraising.”
Andrew also wanted to thank GLOWWA for providing collagen for everyone to have in the drinks purchased and Crazy Color for providing the dye to paint the pumpkin heads and some take home aftercare kits which included a shampoo, conditioner and an anti bleed spray.
He also wanted to thank Phantom Towels for providing provided towels and capes to help protect all items from colours transferring and Wedge coffee shop for opening up for the event attendees.
The event also saw three Coventry City College photography students attend for work experience.
