Leamington church to host powerful photographic exhibition on prisoner’s experiences during his time in Iran prison
A powerful photographic exhibition supported by the Mid-Warwickshire group of Amnesty International UK will be launched at a Leamington church next month.
The event, titled ‘Surviving Evin’, will focus on Anoosheh Ashoori, who was released from the notorious Evin prison in Tehran, Iran, on March 16, 2022, alongside Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. Both were UK-Iranian dual nationals who had been imprisoned on false charges.
The exhibition will run from Wednesday November 4 to Tuesday November 17 and will be open from 11am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays).
In May, the Mid-Warwickshire group of Amnesty International UK supported the Warwick Festival of Peace Making, at which Nazanin talked about how she developed resilience in order to survive her imprisonment which entailed a long separation from her young daughter, Gabriella, and her husband, Richard.
The organisers wish to point out that Anoosheh has had to withdraw from the opening of the exhibition. As previously advertised, he was due to speak at the event.
