A motorcyclist has escaped with minor injuries after he lost control of his 125cc bike when a pigeon flew into the visor of his crash helmet on the A5 near Rugby.

The collision with the pigeon caused the biker to lose control and smash into the back of a van.

Officers from OPU (Operational Patrol Unit) Warwickshire had to close a stretch of the road off earlier today, August 26, as they cleared the debris.

Although the biker only sustained minor injuries, the front of his motorcycle, including the headlamp assembly and mudguard, has been heavily damaged.

"The pigeon wasn't so lucky," a spokesperson for OPU Warwickshire added.
