A seven-year-old from Warwick has had her long locks lopped off for charity.

Ivy Stratton made the brave decision to have the hair cut to help The Little Princess Trust, which provides support and wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair due to an illness or treatment

The Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Terry Morris also joined Ivy and made the first cut.

Earlier in August when preparations were underway for the haircut it was anticipated Ivy would have around 13 inches of hair cut off but on the day she had 15 inches.

Saffina said: "Ivy's had her long locks chopped and people have been amazing and very generous.

"The Mayor of Warwick actually cut off the first lot. She had 15 in cut off in total, weighing four ounces.

"We were amazed that Ivy was as cool as a cucumber and took everything in her stride, whilst I was so anxious in case she changed her mind.

"We'd like to say a big thank you to all those very generous people who have so kindly dug deep into their pockets for such a worthy cause.

"The response has been overwhelming.

"We'd also like to thank Kylie from Hair in the Square for not only cutting Ivy's hair for free, but also for her donation and to the Mayor of Warwick for helping publicise Ivy's fundraising efforts.
