A seven-year-old girl from Warwick is preparing to have her long locks cut to help charity.

Ivy Stratton will be having her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs made out of real hair to children and young people.

As well as donating her hair, Ivy is also raising money for the charity.

When asked about why she was doing this, Ivy said: "Because my Grandpa had cancer and I want to help needy children."

Ivy is hoping to have around 13 inches cut off but it may be more if her hair has grown by the cutting date in August.

Saffina Stratton, Ivy's mum, said: "Ivy is excited about having her hair cut and donating it to The Little Princess Trust and it being made into wigs for children

"Kylie, from Hair in the Square in Warwick is kindly cutting it for free as it's for charity on August 30.

"Ivy is a very kind and caring girl, always putting others first.

"She likes to help out and the teachers tell us she is always first to help any children in school who are upset for any reason.

"We, as parents, are very proud that she has taken this upon herself as we feel it is such a brave and heroic thing for a young girl to do."

So far Ivy has raised more than £1,000.
