Vote to give Rugby church much-needed lift
Rugby Baptist Church has been approved to enter the voting stage of the AVIVA Community Fund and is appealing for help to progress to the selection stage.
Brigade’s chaplain Mick Daulman, said The Access Project aims to make the premises more welcoming to those with disabilities such as impaired mobility or vision.

Hide Ad“There is currently no way for a wheelchair user, or someone with limited mobility, to access the upper hall, and others who find stairs difficult to negotiate also struggle to gain access to the main hall upstairs,” he said.
“This is not an occasional problem only. For example, the Boys’ Brigade includes three children who are in wheelchairs.
“Each week the brigade leaders carry the wheelchair users up and down the stairs in order for these boys to participate in games and activities with the other members of the brigade.”
Mick, Brigade Leader and currently a trustee for the church. said because the only access to the Upper Hall is via stairs, this means that other people with mobility issues also have difficulty in participating in events such as receptions or Brigade display evenings.”
Voting closes on November 21.

Becky Johnson, mother to Bobby, 14, years and Ryan, nine, said: “Now that the boys are bigger, accessing Boys’ Brigade is becoming a problem with the wheelchairs.
“Winning help for this project would be amazing to help my boys to access the brigade fully each week.”
