Charley scored consistently over the first two days to card successive rounds of 72 and make the cut for the final day.

A further round of 72 left him in second, five shots behindFrench youngster Antoine Kuoch, whose final-round 211 left him one over par for the tournament.

Niklas Lacroix, also from France, was third on 218.

Charley’s handicap has now dropped from five to 3.5, with his fine performance also earning him exemptions for the North of England Under-16 Championship at the end of the month and next year’s McGregor Under-16 Championship.
