The Warwick Golf Club-hosted Jack Burns Trophy sees club members and their invited guests competing in a pairs betterball competition to win replicas of the claret jug.

Burns was a greenkeeper and golf pro at Warwick when the club was established in 1886 and went on to claim The Open at St Andrews two years later.

Competition was fierce at Warwick, with just two strokes separating the first three in this year’s renewal.

The winners were Jon Eley and his guest Pete Malaszcauk from Ingon Manor Golf Club who carded an impressive nett 62.

They were closely followed by Tim Burden and J Young of Leamington & County, with Rob Buckingham and partner Adrian Gracey (Stratford Oaks) a further shot adrift.

The longest drive was won by Warwick’s Lee Webb, with Leamington & County claiming all three of the nearest the pin competitions courtesy of Dan Waite, Ian Salmon and Martin Broomfield.
