The ladies’ championship was equally one-sided with club stalwart Petty overcoming Jeanne Shillington by the same scoreline.

There was an exciting conclusion to the men’s triples, with the final going to a play-off after the match had been tied at 18-18.

After plenty of fine draw bowling and good running woods, Matt Wordingham was the hero of the hour when he skillfully sent up a running wood to slam the jack into the ditch, winning the match for a trio which also contained George Schwab and Rob Maries.

Mark Smith claimed two trophies, winning both the under-25 singles and the Sid Hitchman singles, while the Kay Kennard singles went to Heather Tredgold.

Wordingham added the men’s pairs title to his triples trophy, teaming up with Bill Claridge to win the cup.

Husband and wife Bill and Bridie Ward took home the mixed doubles trophy.
