There was yet another mixed bag of agenda items for the October Whitnash Full Town Council meeting.

Representatives from Cleary’s Boxing Gym, who rent the old Whitnash Community Centre Hall in Acre Close, came to share their vision of what they hoped to do in the future (a long future plan). Cleary’s Gym started in Leamington, but is now is firmly based in Whitnash.

District Councillors explained the new planning system from the 1st November this year. The town planning committee will still meet and send in comments on planning applications. Only large applications will go to a committee with the others being decided by officers. All present thought this was a decision that took local residents further away from having their say in a planning meeting. District Councillors will no longer be able to call in applications. This is a sad day for local residents whose voices while they can write and email in, cannot be heard in person.

A number of improvements were approved. Resurfacing of the road in Acre Close and agreed. Quotes were looked at and a decision on what firm to use for improvements to the sports hall floor and the car park will go to the Mayor, Civic Centre Chairman, and the clerk to agree. Grant applications for local organisations were approved as was a CCTV and Access Policy.

District and County Councillors and the Mayor gave updates on the work they had been involved with during the month

Dates up to Christmas for a number of events that the Town Council organise were given out.
