See Benjamin live in Stratford

ONE of England’s best-known poets is bringing his unique style of poetry to the stage of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre later this year.

Benjamin Zephaniah, hosted by comedian Russell Kane and supported by poet and rapper Kate Tempest, is widely recognised for his many poetry collections for adults and children, as well as for his plays for the stage, television and radio.

He will be taking the stage on Sunday September 16 as part of the venue’s Live At The RSC series of performances, which has already seen singers KT Tunstall, Teddy Thompson and Neil Hannon and comedians Chris Addison and Russell Kane performing at the RSC’s theatres in Stratford.

Also on the programme for this year are comedian Al Murray, who will bring his bar room banter to the stage, supported by up-and-coming stand-up Roisin Conaty, on Sunday June 24.

And The Inbetweener’s Greg Davies, following the sell-out success of his Firing Cheeseballs At A Dog tour, will showcase his stand-up skills, supported by another emerging comedy talent, Stephen Grant, on December 2. Both Murray and Davies will also be hosted by Russell Kane.

All shows begin at 7.30pm and tickets cost from £12. Call 0844 800 1110 or go online.
