Award for Rugby businesswoman who goes extra mile to help people with cancer
A Rugby businesswoman has won an award for going the extra mile to help people with cancer.
Penny Appleyard has been awarded the Check Your Duck’s charity Gold Duckling of the Month.
The charity was founded by Tracie Mills, who has terminal cancer.
She said: “This award recognises an extra-special member of our flock who has gone above and beyond in supporting Check Your Ducks, helping us fundraise, spread awareness and keep our campaign well and truly quacking.

"Through her business Salters, her incredible support, kindness, time, dedication and commitment have helped us reach hundreds more people with that all-important message: get to know your body; Check Your Ducks regularly; if something changes, get it checked.
“Every duck sold and every conversation started made a difference. Because of amazing ducklings like Penny, we can continue raising awareness and hopefully help save lives, one duck at a time.”
Shell Hare, who presented the award, said: "Penny is always happy to lend a hand, goes above and beyond whenever she can, and will even step in to collect from other outlets when we’re unable to get there ourselves.
"Penny, you are absolutely superb in every way, and we honestly couldn’t be more grateful for everything you do. You are a true star and a very special part of our Check Your Ducks family!”
Penny said: “A heartfelt thank you to Check Your Ducks for this amazing award.
"I’m truly honoured and grateful for the recognition from the team and local support from all the businesses mean the world to me.”
