"It's clear the positive impact that having this space is having": Friendship and fun at free summer hub in Rugby

Young people are enjoying a summer of free fun and friendship in Rugby town centre.

Deputy PCC Emma Daniell visited the youth hub to see how a vacant retail unit in the Rugby Central shopping centre has been converted into a multi-use space during the holidays.

She said: “Every young person deserves to have fun, build friendships and access support when they need it.

“It is particularly pleasing to see youth organisations including The Bradby Club involved, to help young people access advice and opportunities which can continue long after the hub closes its doors and the summer holidays come to an end.

“Speaking to some of the young people at the hub, it’s clear the positive impact that having this space is having.

"By working together, we can continue to create these positive opportunities for young people and support them to reach their full potential.”

Warwickshire Police, Rugby Borough Council and local youth and community organisations got together to create a space that combines fun, engagement and access to support.

Amongst the agencies supporting the hub are PCC grant recipients The Bradby Club, who will be on hand to provide advice, guidance and support to young people who need it. They are also promoting their year-round opportunities for young people to keep them engaged in similar activities once the summer holidays are over.
