George was brought in by the Coventry-based rescue charity New Leash of Life and is currently being fostered in Warwick by volunteer Ellie Newey.

Sadly George has some medical issues including an eye infection, bacterial skin infection, tooth decay and luxating patella that have been left untreated and not properly cared for.

Gemma Kirby, founder of New Leash of Life, has set up a page called George the Gorgeous Bulldog on the GoFundMe website with the aim of raising £2,600 to go towards George’s treatment, which he is already receiving including laser therapy from the Leaps and Hounds mobile canine veterinary physiotherapy service

Gemma said: “Poor George must be in so much pain and discomfort and he's even struggling to eat.

“He has broken our hearts but he is now safe.

“ He is in the best possible hands and we will do everything in our power to make him more comfortable and get rid of this horrible skin infection.

“We desperately need to make sure we have the funds in the bank for anything that he needs so we can support him and help this poor boy get back to health.”
