Connells lettings buck trend on rent arrears

While recent national reports highlight a growing number of tenants falling behind or failing to meet their rental payments as they struggle to make ends meet, lettings agency Connells is experiencing the opposite.

Selina Egan, lettings manager of Connells in Leamington and Chase Meadow, Warwick, said: “While the considerable growth of the lettings sector has unfortunately been mirrored across the country by a substantial increase in tenants in arrears, we have actually seen a decrease over the past 12 month which we attribute to our comprehensive tenant referencing service, Tenant Letting Check.”

Tenant Letting Check (TLC) works hand in hand with one of the UK’s top credit reference agencies to ensure that tenants’ information is vetted by as many data sources as it can access – checking that they are who they say they are, they live where they say they live and checking the tenant’s financial stability from an employment and previous landlord experience.

“TLC provides a clear financial picture of a potential tenant including what they are likely to be able afford to pay in rent each month,” said Selina.

“As well as offering peace of mind to the landlord before the tenancy begins, this also provides reassurance to the tenant that they are likely to be in a position to meet their rental commitments.”
