Fundraising appeal launched to raise £300k for specialist breast care equipment at Warwick Hospital

A fundraising appeal has been launched to help raise £300,000 for specialist breast care equipment at Warwick Hospital.

The appeal is being headed up by the SWFT Charity – the charity arm of South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust

The charity is aiming to install a stereotactic mammography-guided core biopsy system, including all necessary accessories, within the Helen Clark Suite at Warwick Hospital.

It would also include a specialised mammography chair and a Mammotome Revolve vacuum-assisted breast biopsy system, which the SWFT Trust says will allow patients to attend Warwick Hospital rather than travelling to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

The Trust added that “the introduction of this technology aims to enhance patient care, improve diagnostic efficiency and clinical outcomes, reduce delays in diagnosis, reduce delays in theatre and support achievement of the NHS Faster Diagnosis Standard.”

Leigh-Anne Keyte, who is a senior radiographer at Warwick Hospital, said: “After speaking to our patients, we realised how beneficial it would be to keep their care wholly within Warwick Hospital, always under the care of the familiar face of their named nurse, and without the need for them to travel elsewhere for uncomfortable procedures.

“We are delighted to launch our Breast Care Appeal and invite the public to join us in making this lasting difference.”

The SWFT Charity is now inviting the public to get involved with the fundraising by either making a donation or starting their own fundraising drive towards the appeal.
