Leamington bakery and café closes temporarily while owners seek new premises

The owners of a Leamington bakery and café have closed the business temporarily while they seek a new premises after it failed in its negotiations to stay at the current site.

In a post or its customers on the Instagram page for Wilhelmina in Portland Street a few days ago, its owners said: “We are going to be pausing the bakery café for a moment. "Sadly our chance to stay put on Portland Street has failed, we have to go, our negotiations didn’t end with positivity and love.

"We will be open tomorrow Saturday and Sunday for a big push of all things Wilhelmina and then closed until we manage to get our act together and get up and running again in another premises.

"We will keep you updated here all along the way. “The new place is coming.

"Thank you for being the best daily hug we could imagine as wonderful customers that you all are.

"We love you and are grateful for your support and now patience as we regroup to become stronger and better than before.”

Named after one of the legendary Victorian era Three Graces Leamington elephants, Wilhelmina was opened by owner and baker George Casey, a former BBC radio producer, who also owns and founded the Haddie and Trilby (named after the other two Three Graces) bakery in Regent Street – which opened in 2014.

A message on Wilhelmina’s website says: “We will be back soon – closed in search of our new home.”
