The award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to care and has helped raise the profile of the sector, its workforce, and those who draw on support.

Edd has more than 24 years’ experience in social care and today, he leads around 1,600 colleagues supporting 555 individuals across Yorkshire, the Midlands and the south of England.

He said: “I’m delighted to have been shortlisted for this award but social care for me has always been about the people – both the people we support and the colleagues who make such a difference every day.

“Everyone should have the opportunity to live the life they want, and I’m proud to work alongside a dedicated team who are constantly challenging what’s possible and making that a reality.”

Karen Sheridan, chief operating officer at Community Integrated Care, added: “Edd is a passionate advocate for social care and the people at the heart of it.

“He brings a real ambition and energy to his role, champions new ideas and approaches, and is a powerful public voice for people with learning disabilities, advocating for their rights, equality and inclusion.

“He is committed to ensuring that the voices of people we support and our colleagues are heard, valued and acted upon.

“This nomination is fantastic recognition of the difference he is continuing to make, both within Community Integrated Care and across the wider sector.”

The awards ceremony will take place on November 6.
