'Warwick was absolutely buzzing' - First Warwick Pubfest event hailed a success

The first Warwick Pubfest event has been hailed a success.

The town-wide pub festival took place over the bank holiday weekend – with the aim of highlighting independent hospitality, beer, and community spirit.

Organised by local publicans and business owners, PubFest saw 14 of Warwick’s pubs open their doors for drinks, live music, and culture.

Speaking about the event, Tim Maccabee, owner of The Eagle, said: “Warwick PubFest was born from the idea of encouraging people to enjoy the great variety of pubs in Warwick.

“Considering this was the first edition, we've been delighted with the response to the event, both from locals and from visitors alike.

“We're grateful to our main sponsors, TGFP Accountants and Theakston's Brewery and also all of the customers who made the weekend so enjoyable.”

Pubfest was also a fundraising initiative for the Mayor of Warwick’s chosen charity – the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust.

Reflecting on the event, The Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Simon Pargeter, said: “What a fantastic Warwick PubFest.

“A few months ago, Tim Maccabee, owner of The Eagle, Adam Dudley from The Bowling Green and Chris Proudfoot, from The Four Penny Pub got together with a number of other local pub landlords and came up with the brilliant idea of Warwick PubFest.

“With 14 pubs getting involved, Tim then approached me as Mayor and the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust to get behind the event – promoting our fantastic local pubs while also supporting my chosen charity, the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust, which works to raise awareness of prostate cancer.

“We were delighted to get involved, and what a success the event turned out to be over the bank holiday weekend.

“Warwick was absolutely buzzing, with PubFest hats everywhere you looked, and it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying our wonderful pubs and discovering what they have to offer.”

He added: “Events like this are a great way of bringing people into our town, supporting local businesses and raising money and awareness for a very important cause.

“I really hope Warwick PubFest becomes an annual event for many years to come.

“A massive well done to all the pub landlords, staff and volunteers who got involved, and to everyone who took part and helped make the first Warwick PubFest such a tremendous success.”
