Rugby student wins Texas tech trip

Jasmine Simms was one of 15,000 people to attend the conference for women technologists which aims to ‘Connect, Inspire and Guide’.
The trip was organised by Stemettes, a not-for profit organisation which encourages girls to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths)

She said: “As STEM subjects have such a male image it was great to visit a conference for women, to hear so many inspirational females and to see the major contribution they are making in the world today.
“The work Stemettes is doing is really important as only 14.4 per cent of the UK’s STEM workforce is female and numbers are falling.”
Jasmine is studying for her A-levels and plans to study physics at university.
