Walker off the mark to complete fine October for Racing Club Warwick

Racing Club Warwick rounded off an excellent October with a hard-fought 1-0 Southern League Premier Central victory away at Rushall Olympic, courtesy of Adam Walker's first goal for the club on Saturday.

Walker's early strike proved decisive as the Racers produced a determined and disciplined performance to secure all three points, completing the month with an impressive record of six wins, one draw and just one defeat.

Warwick made the perfect start and took the lead after just nine minutes.

Walker opened his account for the club in style, firing a well-placed effort from outside the penalty area into the bottom corner.

Rushall looked to respond almost immediately, creating an opportunity just a few minutes later, but somehow managed to fire over the crossbar from inside the penalty area.

Warwick continued to threaten, with Miro Pais presented with an opportunity on the volley shortly afterwards, although he couldn't make the desired connection and sliced his effort wide.

Around the 16-minute mark, Warwick worked the ball down the wing before delivering a dangerous cross into the penalty area.

The initial delivery was well cleared by the Rushall defence, but the ball fell back to the Warwick player, whose follow-up effort went wide of the target.

The hosts continued searching for an equaliser and had another opportunity in the 27th minute, but the effort was dragged wide.

Rushall threatened again around the 35-minute mark when the ball was played across the edge of the Warwick penalty area.

However, the resulting shot was directed straight into the grateful hands of Tom Allsopp.

Despite opportunities at both ends, neither side could add to the scoring before the interval.

Rushall emerged for the second half looking to find a way back into the contest and began to apply pressure on the Warwick defence.

In the 53rd minute, the hosts worked the ball back to the edge of the penalty area, but the resulting effort was struck wide of Tom Allsopp's goal.

The Warwick goalkeeper was called into action again on the hour mark, producing an excellent save to deny Rushall and preserve his side's narrow advantage.

As the half progressed, the contest became increasingly scrappy, with clear-cut opportunities at a premium.

Warwick remained organised defensively, frustrating the hosts as they searched for an equaliser.

Rushall felt they should have been awarded a penalty late in the contest, but their appeals were waved away by the referee.

The hosts' best opportunity of the closing stages arrived in the 89th minute when a free-kick was delivered into the Warwick penalty area.

The ball eventually fell to a Rushall defender, whose effort was blocked and deflected narrowly wide of the post.

Despite late pressure from the home side, Warwick stood firm and saw out the remaining minutes to secure another valuable three points on the road.

The victory capped off a superb month for Racing Club Warwick, who finished October with six victories, one draw and just one defeat from eight matches.

Having secured promotion to Step 3 last season, Warwick continue to demonstrate their ability to compete at this level, with another impressive away performance highlighting the team's resilience and determination.

Walker's first goal for the club will undoubtedly be a memorable one, while another clean sheet for Allsopp and the Warwick defence ensured his early strike was enough to claim all three points.
