Female property entrepreneur aims to open doors for the next generation of developers

"We want to level the playing field”

A female entrepreneur based in Leamington Spa is on a mission to change the face of Britain's property industry by helping more people – particularly women – break into a sector she says has traditionally been difficult to access.

Rosey Cassidy, 29, who is from the Midlands, co-founded BuildUp in 2025 after building an impressive career in property from a young age.

Coming from a family of property developers, Rosey left school at 18 to become a Land Agent before progressing rapidly through the industry. At just 23, she became Land Director at the Cassidy Group before launching her own venture a year later.

Now, through BuildUp, she is helping aspiring and existing small and medium-sized property developers gain the knowledge, industry contacts, mentoring and funding needed to deliver their own development projects.

"We want to level the playing field," said Rosey. "There are significant barriers to entering the property industry, and knowledge is often gatekept. We want to prove that anyone can succeed in property development with the right education, support and opportunities."

Rosey believes the UK's housing market is crying out for change, with too much emphasis placed on volume rather than quality.

"The quality of many new-build homes is disappointing, and there's very little choice for buyers. We want to challenge that by helping independent developers create beautiful, affordable homes and places where people genuinely want to live."

As a woman working in what has long been a male-dominated industry, Rosey is particularly passionate about encouraging more women to pursue careers in property and construction.

"I'm incredibly proud that more than half of our members are women – that's over 250 female members. It's something that's really important to me because I've experienced first-hand what it can be like starting out in such a male-dominated sector. I want other women to know there is a place for them in this industry."

Despite BuildUp's national ambitions, Rosey has chosen to keep the business rooted in the Midlands.

"Both myself and my co-founder, Peter Hitchman, and I are based in the Midlands, and much of our team is too.

The area has given me strong connections within the property sector, and I'm constantly meeting new people through those networks."

Looking ahead, BuildUp has ambitious plans to make a lasting impact on the UK's housing market.

The company hopes its members will collectively deliver 5,000 new homes over the next five years, before focusing on creating high-quality, affordable homes across the country.

"Our goal is to build a community of developers who are actually delivering projects," Rosey added. "We want to see beautiful homes being built all over the UK by people who may never have thought a career in property development was possible."
