Magnificent 45 for Ben Cowan see Zimmers cement top spot
Cowan’s 45 takes him to the top of the averages
Another big win for Zimmers saw them cement their position at the top of the table in the Blythe Liggins Skittles League at Leamington Criclet Club.
In a heavy scoring match they beat Skittled Pink by 40 pins, with the final score being 219-179 (17-3) and Ben Cowan scoring a magnificent 45, which was enough to take him to the top of the averages.
Second placed Grovers Rovers kept up the pressure with a similar, but not quite so dominating result, against Demons with a 202-190 (16-4) scoreline, Jimmy Gethins top-scoring on 41.
Roll With It, in third spot, made up a bit of ground thanks to a 207-191 (17-3) win against Pacemakers.
There were two scores of 40 in the match, one for Maddie Ashurst (Roll With It) and the other for James Shanahan (Pacemakers).
BFC United recovered from the previous week’s disaster with a solid 210-184 (14-6) against All Sorts, Kevin Mitchell top-scoring on 40.
That moves them up one place to fourth and drops All Sorts two places from third to fifth.
In the bottom half of the table, Bad Eggs narrowly beat Nutters 178-175 (14-6) despite losing the first two legs, and then Jocky’s Jokers beat Groovies 195-179 (16-4).
That puts Bad Eggs and Jocky’s Jokers level on 35 points, in seventh and eighth spots respectively.
