Diwali 2026: Rugby town centre comes alive with music, dancing and lights for vibrant festival
Rugby town centre was alive with music, festive lighting, dancing and joy for the annual Diwali festival yesterday (Sunday, November 1).
Families gathered for the free event, organised by Rugby Indian Association, to celebrate the Festival of Light.
Celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world, Diwali marks new beginnings, symbolising the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
Photographer Mohini Mistry, from @mjayartography, was at the festival and provided these pictures.

"It was a colourful celebration of light over darkness and good over evil,” Mohini said.
"The day was filled with joy, dances, food and bagpipe players!”
Naomi Rees-Issitt was at the festival with the Our Jay Foundation.
She said: “The kindness shines through everyone involved in this brilliant day and we are so proud to have supported it again this year.

"We’d like to say thank you to so many people who came over to chat to us, buy some OurJay merch, make donations or just to give us a friendly smile.”
Visitors enjoyed an exciting programme of entertainment featuring traditional Indian dance and music, a Scottish Pipe Band and a range of cultural performances.
More than 30 vibrant stalls offered delicious Indian cuisine, traditional crafts and beautiful artefacts.
A highlight of the celebration was the Lantern Parade through the town centre, culminating in the official Diwali light switch on by the Mayor of Rugby, Cllr Nooria Sayani.
Cllr Ish Mistry, who is one of the organisers, said it was a wonderful celebration, supported by Rugby Borough Council.
