Melody makers on song for Swimathon

THE 14th annual Soroptomist Swimathon is nearly upon us but spaces are still up for grabs.

The event, this year raising money for the Warwickshre and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and Myton Hospice, will take place at Warwick School’s swimming pool on October 16, with teams swimming in relay for 55 minutes.

Southam choir Karousel took part every year before disbanding, but after the Melody Makers was set up in its stead they wasted no time getting involved again last year to keep up their ever present record. They will be joined by Parkinson’s Puffins and the Morning Glories - two teams who have again signed up from the Parkinson’s Society, which was a beneficiary of the event two years ago.

Captain of the Parkinson’s teams Peter Jackson said: “We have benefited from the Swimathon a couple of years back and we’ve kept it up, the Soroptomists are brilliant.”

The morning slots are already filled but there are still a number of spaces for teams in the afternoon, and teams should have up to six swimmers.
