Postal deliveries problems in Sydenham are "as bad as they've been in 53 years", says resident

Sydenham residents have reported serious issues with postal deliveries in the Leamington suburb with one OAP saying “It is as bad as she’s has known it in more than 50 years of living there”.

Residents have reported long delays for important mail arriving and letters and parcels being delivered to the wrong address.

One elderly resident said the issues have been going on for about four months and that she has been waiting for more than two weeks for her new bank card to arrive.

The woman, who asked not to be named, said: “It’s so worrying when you don't know where your post is going or whether it is going to turn up.

“It’s been a nightmare for three or four months

“It’d been realy bad before but recently but I’ve lived around here for 53 years and never known it to be this bad.”

Having checked with its management team, Royal Mail said it is not aware of any long-running issues in the Sydenham area, but deliveries have been affected this week and last by staffing issues.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: “We understand how important reliable deliveries are to our customers and take concerns about delays very seriously.

“Resourcing challenges have recently affected some deliveries to the area.

“Our local team is working hard to clear any outstanding mail as quickly as possible, and with sickness absence now reduced, we expect deliveries to return to normal early next week.”
