Sheldon signs for Brakes

Brakes completed the signing of 19-year-old Jamie Sheldon earlier today (Friday), with the former Solihull Moors midfielder going straight into the squad for tomorrow’s FA Trophy clash with Hyde FC.

Sheldon, who has made five appearance on loan at Evesham in the current campaign, came close to joining Leamington last season before opting to join Redditch.

He left Redditch at the start of the year to join Slovenian National League One side NK Interblock and, on his return to the UK, had trials with Rochdale in the summer.

“He’s a player who has been on our radar since his release from Birmingham City,” said Holleran.

“He’s a young talent, a creative midfielder who could have a big future in the game.

“He’s certainly got the attributes to play at this level and higher.”

One player who will not be around at the New Windmill to greet Sheldon’s arrival is Alex Cowley, who has been released by the club.

“Alex has had a promotion at work and as a result he has not be able to give the level of commitment I require,” said Holleran.

“I hope his work issues ease, because Alex can play at this level with his eyes closed.”
