See professionals perform Shakespeare at Warwick Castle
GB Theatre Company, who made their debut at the castle last year, are returning to bring A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Merchant of Venice to open air audiences later this month.
With a cast of 13 actors - all in traditional costume - the performances will consist of no props as the company like to use the costumes, actors and text to bring the plays to life.
Eight of the company and both the two directors trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School - where Jeremy Irons, Daniel Day-Lewis and Patrick Stewart also learnt their trade - and among the cast are Matt Milburn, who played Joe Spencer in Hollyoaks for three years and Nicky in Emmerdale for 30 episodes, and Derek Howard, who has recently been acting on the West End.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be performed on Thursday August 15 and Saturday August 17, while The Merchant of Venice takes the ‘stage’ on Friday August 16. All performances take place on the lawn by the Peacock Gate and begin at 7.30pm. For tickets (£18), visit www.gbtheatre.com
