Art gallery to benefit from funding award

SOUTH Warwickshire art gallery Compton Verney House is to benefit from a £155,000 grant secured from the Arts Council.

The funding, which will be made available to the site near Kineton over a three-year period, will be used to further enhance its programme of exhibitions both within the house and in the surrounding ‘Capability’ Brown-designed parkland.

The grant comes from the Arts Council England’s Catalyst Arts fund, which aims to make arts organisations more sustainable and innovative by increasing their fundraising potential from other grant-making trusts, individuals and businesses. Only 173 organisations out of 350 applicants from across the country were awarded funding through the scheme.

Compton Verney’s director Dr Steven Parissien said: “We’re delighted to receive this significant funding.

“It is particularly significant for us as we are not one of their national portfolio organisations and therefore get no regular state funding.

“It demonstrates that the Arts Council has real confidence in Compton Verney.”

The funding has also enabled the gallery to take on a graduate development trainee.
