Grand tour Warwick portrait on sale
A rare portrait of the first Earl of Warwick, Francis Greville, is due to go under the hammer at Sotheby’s next Wednesday (Dec 3).
The painting, by French artist Jean-Marc Nattier, was probably done in the 1740s when the earl was aged 21.
He had probably just finished the traditional grand tour of Europe.
Sotheby’s auctioneers anticipate a good deal of interest.
