Hospital joins forces with private company to provide services

A PRIVATE company is to start helping Warwick Hospital provide non-medical healthcare services to patients.

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, has entered into a partnership with Serco, which is already working with several hospital trusts across the country.

The trust says the partnership will enable it to bring benefits to patients more quickly and build on existing arrangements for NHS trusts in the Midlands and East region.

Chief executive Glen Burley said: “This is about looking at where we can gain real benefits for patients by combining the skills and expertise that both organisations have. I am very excited about this innovation partnership and our ability to work through projects that will not only deliver best value but will also enable the trust to continue to offer high quality services to patients in Warwickshire.”

Valerie Michie, managing director of Serco’s health business, said: “Serco is already working with the NHS and independent sector across the UK to deliver a broad range of healthcare services where high standards of patient care and clinical effectiveness are essential.

“This new partnership paves the way for Serco and South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust to explore and develop exciting new delivery models which will place the patient at the heart of the service.”
