Ruth won’t get cold feet

SHE’S always had cold feet, but there’s no backing out now.

Southam mother-of-two Ruth Lowe is preparing to walk over hot coals on Sunday to raise money for Cats Protection’s Warwickshire Branch.

The 37-year-old cat fosterer, who is currently looking after moggies Billy and Timmy for the charity, will have to walk 20ft over the coals, which burn at 800 Fahrenheit.

And Mrs Lowe admits the closest she has been to such an ordeal was on a scorching beach.

She said: “I’ve done sponsored walks before but none as short as 20ft and none quite as hot.

“I’ve never done anything quite so scary. Walking on hot sand is probably the closest I’ve ever come.”

Mrs Lowe and the other walkers will have two hours of psychological training to prepare them for the ordeal.

All will be walking in aid of Cats Protection, which rehomes or reunites 55,500 cats and kittens with their owners each year and neuters 122,000..

Mrs Lowe, who fosters cats all year round either in her house and cat pen, believes it will be worth any discomfort.

She added: “I’m a little bit apprehensive but I think the training will put me at ease.

“I’ve always had cold feet so I don’t know if that’s going to make it more difficult.”
