Tidy result as council wins two awards

IT WAS double delight for Warwick District Council after it took home two Keep Britain Tidy awards at a national ceremony.

It received the Partnership Award for the mural project at Leamington railway station and then scooped Overall Winner award.

The mural project was a joint project involving Community Protection, Waste Management and Contract Services from Warwick District Council; Warwickshire County Council’s Youth Justice Team, Warwickshire Police, Network Rail and Chiltern Railways, as well as Friends of Leamington Railway Station and the Leamington History Group.

Cllr Michael Coker, WDC portfolio holder for environment and community protections, described it as fantastic news, adding: “This work has made a real difference to the railway station and creates a much better impression of the town for our visitors.

“Well done to everyone, in particular to the young people who have done a great job, of which they can be
justifiably proud.”
